Mumbai: There are over 2.19 lakh active cases in India, of which Maharashtra alone accounts for over 1.27 lakh. On Sunday, 26,294 new cases of coronavirus infections were detected in India. For the second consecutive day, active cases increased by more than 8,000. The sudden surge is seen in Maharashtra and also in Kerala, Punjab and Gujarat.
Amid the recent surge in Maharashtra, hospitals in Pune and several other districts were directed to increase the number of people getting vaccinated. After getting instructions to only use Covaxin, several hospitals in Pune said they had not yet received enough doses, and would not be able to vaccinate the first-timers today.
Meanwhile, flight passengers who do not wear their masks ‘properly’ or follow social distancing norms could be de-boarded or put on the no-fly list for at least three months. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a circular to all airlines, airports and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), to treat passengers who violate the Covid-19 protocol — even after repeated warnings during the course of the flight — as “unruly passengersâ€.
