Bengaluru: Basavaraju Bommai sworn-in as the 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka state succeeding the outing CM BS Yeddyurappa on Wednesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the new BJP run state Karnataka CM through his twitter handle highlighting his rich legislative and administrative experience.
The 61-year-old leader, who is known to be the close aid and confidant of the former Chief Minister Yediyurappa, was holding the portfolio as Minister for Home Affairs, Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Legislature in council of ministers.
A Lingayat leader from the North Karnataka, Basavaraj Bommai is the son of former chief minister, the late S R Bommai.
