Visakhapatnam: In a top level administrative elevation, the Andhra Pradesh government has appointed senior IAS officer Sameer Sarma as the state chief secretary. Sharma succeeds Aditya Nath Das, who retired on September 30.
Till now Sharma was serving as the special chief secretary to the government for planning and resource mobilisation.
He is also the vice-chairperson and member secretary of the Institute of Leadership, Excellence and Governance (ILE&G.) Earlier the senior IAS officer, Sameer Sarma was drawn to the state services from the Central services, where he was on deputation to be appointed as state chief secretary.
At the Centre Sarma was posted as the director general of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs in the ministry of corporate affairs till June this year. Upon his return from the Central service, Sameer Sarma was appointed as special chief secretary for planning and resource mobilisation.
In the past, the 1985 batch IAS officer, Sarma has also worked as the municipal commissioner of Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad, during his service.
