New Delhi: IndiGo’s operations remained heavily disrupted for the second consecutive day on 4 December, with the airline cancelling more than 300 domestic and international flights across major airports, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai. Hundreds of passengers were also affected by widespread delays.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has summoned IndiGo to its headquarters to explain the reasons behind the continuing cancellations and present a mitigation plan.
The disruptions follow the disruption that took place on 3 December, when over 200 flights were cancelled amid a nationwide crew shortage compounded by software glitches.
At Delhi’s IGI Airport, 44 departures and 47 arrivals were cancelled by 1 pm.
Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport reported 70 cancellations, around 40 outbound and 30 inbound, while Mumbai saw 86 flights cancelled. Chennai recorded 26 cancellations, with officials warning of more due to both operational issues and adverse weather.
Hyderabad reported 18 cancellations, with another 68 likely through the day.
Airports continued issuing frequent updates to passengers as the disruptions showed signs of extending further.
