New Delhi:Â On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi organized an awareness event around the importance of physiotherapy in treatment of Osteoarthritis. The event highlighted the journey of the patient suffering from Osteoarthritis and the recent advancements of physiotherapy in improving the pain related to the disease.
Osteoarthritis is a disease that occurs with advancing age. The degenerative process of the bones is the main cause for the disease. Physiotherapy as a treatment helps in improving mobility and re-establishing the functioning of affected joints. The various modalities in the treatment include exercises, massages, electrotherapy, hydrotherapy that helps in strengthening the muscles and relieving the pain of joints.
Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, India’s first JCI accredited hospital, is a joint venture between the Government of Delhi and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited. The Hospital has introduced the most sophisticated imaging technology to India with the introduction of 64 slice CT and 3 Tesla MRI, Novalis Tx and the integrated PET Suite.
