Kolkata, September 24 (APAC Media): Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has announced an investment of over Rs 4,000 crore in the proposed Adani Arogya Mandir in West Bengal, a not-for-profit healthcare project expected to generate more than 10,000 jobs.
The announcement came during the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the project in New Town.
2,000-Bed Healthcare Facility Planned
The Adani Arogya Mandir is planned as a 2,000-bed medical institution, with 1,000 beds reserved for economically weaker sections eligible under state and central government health insurance schemes.
The project will also house a medical college and advanced healthcare and research facilities. According to Adani, the healthcare project and associated institutions are expected to create over 10,000 jobs across West Bengal’s healthcare ecosystem.
Rs 1 Lakh Crore Investment Plan for West Bengal
As part of its wider investment commitment, the Adani Group plans to deploy over Rs 1 lakh crore in West Bengal by 2035. Investments are planned across ports, logistics, power generation, transmission, and distribution, roads, bridges, ropeways, green cement, and hyperscale data centres.
The Group also announced support for the restoration of Kolkata’s historic Writers’ Building, which once served as an administrative office of the East India Company and later housed West Bengal government offices.
Adani further highlighted West Bengal’s strategic potential as a maritime and logistics link connecting India’s industrial heartland, the Northeast, and the Bay of Bengal.
