Rajit Punhani’s tenure extended as AS&FA, MHA

1991 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre Rajit Punhani’ tenure, who is currently on central deputation and working as Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Home Affairs, has been extended for a period of one year.

The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal to extend the deputation tenure of Punhani for a period of one year beyond 07.10.2022.

Punhani has led various flagship Government programs at the federal and state level, including the launch of a pension scheme and insurance plan for 450 million unorganised sector workers, spearheaded the largest maternal messaging service in the world and committee for the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms.

He has been on the board of different PSUs including listed companies such as NTPC and Powergrid and unlisted entities like India’s Provident Fund (Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation EPFO), State Cooperative Bank and Beverage Corp.

He has also served India as a diplomat and representative to the European Union (EU) and International Labor Organization (ILO)
