Kanpur: In a recent meeting, the Kanpur Divisional Commissioner Dr. Raj Shekhar reviewed the Safe City scheme at the Commissioner’s Camp Office. A target has been given to add 5 thousand CCTV cameras in the next 1 month. He added that the city needs about 25,000 cameras for surveillance.
It is to be noted that under the Safe City scheme, CCTV cameras installed in institutions and shops are being linked to the control room set up in the smart city. So far 1720 CCTV cameras have been linked.
The Safe City scheme is to be completed in two phases. In the first phase, CCTVs of government buildings and departments including private and government institutions, schools, industries, factories, medical stores, shops, liquor shops, and model shops have been linked.
