Leh: Former IAS officer Sudhanshu Pandey, recently took oath as the first State Election Commissioner (SEC) of the Union Territory of Ladakh, on September 23. The oath of office was administered to Pandey by Lieutenant Governor Brigadier (Retd.) B D Mishra at Raj Nivas.
Pandey is the first Election Commissioner of Ladakh after it gained its status as a Union Territory in 2019. He is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the 1987 batch of the Jammu and Kashmir cadre. LG Mishra congratulated Pandey and wished him the best for his appointment as the SEC of Ladakh.
Pandey retired last year from the position of Union Secretary of the Department of Food and Public Distribution. According to a spokesperson, he is the common election commissioner who has been appointed for the Union Territories of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Lakshadweep.
