Ranchi: IAS officer Lalbiaktluanga Khiangte, has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Jharkhand. Khiangte is currently posted as the Director General of the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) with an additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary for the Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Department. He belongs to the 1988 batch from the Jharkhand cadre.
Khiangte initially belonged to the AGMUT cadre, but had an inter cadre deputation in the year 2008 to his current cadre. He was previously posted as the District Magistrate of Buxar district of unified Bihar before being allotted to Jharkhand. He has also served as the Tribal Welfare Commissioner and Secretary in Jharkhand.
Khiangte is from the state of Mizoram and belongs to a tribal community. He will take charge as the 24th Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, due to retire on October 31, 2024. Khiangte is replacing IAS officer Shukhdeo Singh of the 1987 batch.
