New Delhi: IIS Dhirendra K Ojha has taken over as the principal spokesperson of the Indian government. This appointment, effective immediately, also positions Ojha as the principal director general of the Press Information Bureau (PIB), headquartered in New Delhi. Ojha is a seasoned officer of the Indian Information Service (IIS) from the 1990 batch.
In his new capacity, Ojha will serve as the chief spokesperson for the central government, overseeing the operations of the PIB and coordinating communication strategies across various ministries and departments. His appointment follows the tenure of Sheyphali B Sharan, another 1990-batch IIS officer, who has transitioned to the role of director general of the Publications Division.
Ojha brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as the director general of the Central Bureau of Communications (CBC), where he specialized in government advertising strategies and media advisory functions. His leadership is expected to further enhance the government’s communication efforts, ensuring effective dissemination of public information.
