New Delhi: The Centre has reaffirmed its dedication to the development of artificial intelligence (AI) for all, following the digital public infrastructure. Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also emphasized the need to address the global threats posed by AI.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has emphasized the need for global cooperation to mitigate the risks associated with artificial intelligence. Speaking at the India Global Forum, Vaishnaw highlighted that international efforts are crucial to ensure the safe and beneficial use of AI. He pointed out that India, recognized for its AI talent and innovation, has chaired the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI). Vaishnaw underscored the importance of using technological advancements for societal welfare and called for regulatory measures to curb potential dangers. He mentioned that while India is a leader in AI development, global collaboration is essential to harness AI’s potential responsibly.
The minister’s address at the India Global Forum also included discussions on India’s initiatives in AI, the country’s significant role in the global AI landscape, and the need for international frameworks to manage AI risks effectively. He stressed that concerted global efforts are necessary to address the ethical, legal, and societal implications of AI.
