New Delhi: Skoda Auto India has announced the appointment of Vishal Bhat as the head of the sales department. He was previously responsible for the aftersales operations and service at Volkswagen India and Skoda India.
Bhat brings nearly 15 years of experience from the Volkswagen Group to his new position. Skoda is in the midst of a critical period as it prepares for the launch of its highly anticipated sub-4-meter SUV in early 2025, and his appointment is timely. According to sources, Bhat will be instrumental in directing the sales function during this significant phase. Bhat’s primary objective as a Volkswagen Group expert will be to enhance Skoda’s sales figures, which have declined to less than 3,000 units per month, resulting in annual sales of approximately 36,000 units.
Bhat is well-positioned to supervise Skoda’s sales turnaround due to his extensive experience in aftersales and service, particularly his tenure overseeing both Volkswagen and Skoda’s aftersales business. Before joining the Volkswagen Group, he held positions at Maruti Suzuki and Hero MotoCorp. He has a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Mumbai and a management degree in marketing and sales from the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies.
