Chennai: To boost Tamil Nadu’s electronics and advanced manufacturing sector, Foxconn has announced a Rs 15,000-crore investment in the state along with the creation of 14,000 engineering jobs. The announcement came during a meeting between a Foxconn delegation and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in Chennai on 13 October.
The delegation, led by Robert Wu, Foxconn’s India representative and senior global executive, met with Stalin, Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa and senior state officials. According to an official release, the meeting marked a new milestone in Foxconn’s partnership with Tamil Nadu, reaffirming the state’s status as a global hub for high-value manufacturing and exports.
As part of the engagement, Foxconn announced the establishment of India’s first Foxconn Desk at Guidance Tamil Nadu, the state’s investment promotion agency. The desk will serve as a dedicated platform to enable faster coordination, investor facilitation and project execution in mission mode.
Foxconn’s latest investment aims to accelerate emerging technology manufacturing and strengthen its relationship with Tamil Nadu, particularly in areas such as battery technologies, AI-driven manufacturing systems, and research and development integration.
Wu expressed confidence in Tamil Nadu’s governance model, robust infrastructure and proactive industrial policies under Stalin’s leadership. He noted that the state’s ease of doing business reforms and policy stability make it a preferred destination for Foxconn’s next phase of expansion in India.
Welcoming the announcement, Chief Minister Stalin assured full government support through single-window clearances, skill development partnerships, and close coordination via the newly established Foxconn Desk. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to positioning Tamil Nadu as a global powerhouse in electronics and advanced manufacturing.
“This marks another milestone in our journey to make Tamil Nadu the manufacturing and innovation hub of South Asia,” Stalin wrote in a post on X.
Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa, in his social media post, added that Foxconn’s upcoming projects will bring advanced technology operations, AI-led manufacturing and deeper R&D integration to Tamil Nadu, further solidifying the state’s role in the global supply chain.
