Kolkata: West Bengal’s Swasthya Sathi scheme has crossed the one crore hospitalisation milestone on 31 October.
The scheme now covers close to nine crore individuals from 2.5 crore families across West Bengal from all economic strata.
West Bengal has spent Rs 13,156 crore on Swasthya Sathi beneficiaries from its inception in 2016.
In the last two years, Swasthya Sathi registered about 21 lakh hospitalisations each year.
Cancer treatment is most sought after under this scheme, where the government spends Rs 500 crore annually.
A total of 92 per cent of breast cancer patients completed treatment under this scheme.
Patients needing dialysis are major beneficiaries of the scheme, supporting 2000 dialysis procedures every day.
The state receives 5000-7000 claims daily under the scheme from different hospitals.
The hospitals receive reimbursement mostly within 30 days of the claim.
