New Delhi: Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has initiated plans to introduce an air train to connect its terminals, offering a seamless alternative to buses for inter-terminal transfers. The automated people mover (APM) will cover a 7.7 km route between Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, with stops at Terminal 2/3, Aerocity, and Cargo City.
DIAL has issued a tender for the project, expected to begin accepting bids in October-November 2024. The winning bid will be selected based on cost-effectiveness, with options such as revenue-sharing models or viability gap funding on the table. The contract is set to be awarded by the end of the fiscal year, and construction is expected to conclude by 2027.
