Ranchi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren has taken oath as the Chief Minister (CM) of Jharkhand. This will be his fourth stint as the CM of the state. Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath at the Morabadi Ground in Ranchi.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi were present at the oath-taking ceremony. Several other top leaders from the Opposition, including RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Congress leader Tariq Anwar, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Independent MP Pappu Yadav also arrived at the occasion. Additionally, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also attended the ceremony.
The JMM-led INDIA bloc attained victory in the recent assembly polls, securing 56 seats in the 81-member assembly. Meanwhile, the BJP-led NDA managed 24 seats. Soren retained the Barhait seat, defeating BJP’s Gamliyel Hembrom by a margin of 39,791 votes.
