Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has announced the transfer and reappointment of four senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, reflecting strategic changes to bolster key departments. According to an official notification, the reshuffle aims to enhance administrative efficiency and reinforce law enforcement across the state.
According to the official notification, IPS Rajeev Kumar, a 1992 batch officer and the incumbent Director General of Police (DGP) for the Crimes Against Women and Children Division in Chennai, has been appointed as the DGP for Aavin, the state’s cooperative milk producers’ federation. Rajeev Kumar’s vast experience is expected to strengthen the organization’s vigilance and operational framework.

IPS Vanniyar Perumal, also from the 1992 batch, will take charge as DGP of Railways. Previously heading the Village Police Force, his expertise will now focus on ensuring security and law enforcement across Tamil Nadu’s extensive railway network.

IPS Mallika, a 2006 batch officer, has been reassigned as the Inspector General (IG) of the Investigation Division at the State Human Rights Commission. Previously IG for Traffic and Road Safety in Chennai, her new role underscores the importance of leadership in safeguarding human rights.

Similarly, IPS Abhishek Dixit, from the same batch, has been promoted from Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Railways in Chennai to IG of Traffic and Road Safety. His track record highlights his readiness for greater responsibilities.

Lastly, IPS Muthamil, previously SP of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Department for Aavin, has been appointed as the SP of Civil Supplies CID in Chennai, tasked with monitoring and addressing supply-related crimes.
These changes reflect the state’s commitment to streamlined governance and proactive law enforcement.
