New Delhi, September 22 (APAC Media): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday launched the ‘Delhi PM Surya Ghar’ registration portal under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, opening registrations for households seeking to install rooftop solar systems across the national capital.
The portal allows residents to register for rooftop solar installations and access information on central and state subsidies, authorised vendors and grievance redressal.
Registrations will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Rooftop Solar Subsidy Up to Rs 1.56 Lakh
Under the scheme, the Centre provides a subsidy of up to Rs 78,000 for residential rooftop solar systems of up to 3 kW. The Delhi Government has announced an additional state subsidy, taking the total available support for eligible consumers to up to Rs 1.56 lakh.
The portal provides details of the subsidy structure and allows consumers to apply for rooftop solar installations.
It also includes options such as group net metering and community solar for households and group housing societies with limited rooftop space or financing constraints.
The government is encouraging rooftop solar systems of up to 2 kW for households with limited roof space. For eligible consumers, empanelled vendors will provide operation and maintenance services for five years.
Delhi Targets 2.30 Lakh Solar Households
The Delhi Government aims to provide rooftop solar systems to around 2.30 lakh families as part of its wider clean-energy push.
Power Minister Ashish Sood said the initiative would help Delhi move towards becoming a “Solar Capital”, while enabling households to reduce electricity costs and potentially earn from solar power generation.
The portal also features a rooftop solar calculator, allowing consumers to estimate suitable system capacity, installation costs, subsidies, potential savings, and other benefits based on electricity consumption and available rooftop area.
