Pune: Bajaj Finserv Health, a subsidiary of Bajaj Finserv, has announced plans to invest INR 1,000 crore to strengthen its technology and services in healthcare. The company, which acquired third-party administrator (TPA) Vidal Health earlier this year, aims to streamline healthcare delivery with new offerings, including a concierge service called ‘Health Saathi.’
The concierge service is designed to assist policyholders with hospital selection, documentation, and navigating treatment processes. Speaking on healthcare challenges, Devang Mody, Managing Director and CEO of Bajaj Finserv Health, emphasized issues such as outdated paper-based systems and limited awareness about TPA rights as barriers to accessible healthcare.
Alongside the concierge service, Bajaj Finserv Health plans to introduce value-based care products, such as maternity care plans offering comprehensive support beyond insurance reimbursements. The company is also investing in fraud detection systems and artificial intelligence to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
Bajaj Finserv Health has built a network comprising over 100,000 doctors and 16,000 hospitals, processing approximately 150,000 outpatient department (OPD) transactions each month. Its digital platforms, bolstered by the Vidal Health acquisition, aim to connect key stakeholders across outpatient, wellness, and inpatient care services.
These initiatives align with the National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) under NITI Aayog, which promotes cashless and accessible healthcare. Mody highlighted the need for greater transparency and open architecture in healthcare systems, allowing patients to make informed decisions about TPAs and other service providers.
The INR 1,000-crore investment underscores Bajaj Finserv Health’s efforts to address systemic gaps in healthcare delivery and create patient-focused solutions. By integrating technology and expanding its service network, the company seeks to address critical inefficiencies in India’s healthcare sector.
