Patna: In a significant administrative move, the Government of Bihar has announced the promotion and transfer of several Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. The Home Department issued an official notification detailing the changes, which include the promotion of three officers and the reassignment of roles for two others.
Among the notable appointments, IPS Vivek Kumar, a 2007 batch officer, has been promoted to the position of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Crime Investigation Department (CID). Before this, Kumar served as the Superintendent of Police in the Law and Order Department in Patna, where he played a pivotal role in maintaining public order in the state capital.

IPS Sudhanshu Kumar, a 1996 batch officer, continues as the Additional Director General (ADG) of the Traffic Department but has been relieved of his additional charge of the Civil Defence Department.

IPS Anusuya Ransingh Sahu, a 2006 batch officer, has been elevated to the rank of Inspector General (IG) in the Civil Defence Department, a step up from her previous role as DIG in the same department.

IPS Mohammad Faroguddin (2009 batch), formerly the Commandant of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), has been promoted to DIG-cum-Deputy Commandant General in the Homeguard and Fire Services Department.

IPS Mrityunjay Kumar Choudhary (2010 batch) has been reassigned as DIG in the Vigilance Investigation Bureau, moving from his earlier post in the Homeguard and Fire Services Department.
This reshuffle aims to enhance efficiency and streamline the functioning of various critical departments in Bihar’s police administration.
