Pune: Poonawalla Fincorp, part of the Cyrus Poonawalla Group, has adopted Artificial Intelligence (AI) in its human resource (HR) processes to streamline recruitment and enhance operational efficiency. The company reports that the integration has reduced the time to finalize job offers from 10 days to less than a day, a 90% decrease. AI tools are now handling document verification and candidate screening, improving cost management and accuracy.
A Strategic Move Under New Leadership
The AI adoption is part of a broader transformation led by Arvind Kapil, who was appointed Managing Director and CEO in June. The company is leveraging AI to build a customer-centric ecosystem while expanding its operations and distribution networks. While the focus currently is on HR, similar AI-driven changes are planned across compliance, customer service, and operational areas.

Collaboration with IIT Bombay
The company has partnered with IIT Bombay to develop its AI systems. Pushpak Bhattacharyya from IIT Bombay’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering emphasized the growing role of AI in financial services and the ongoing projects within the company.
Technology Leadership and Future Plans
In addition, Salil Hajarnis has been appointed as Chief Technology Officer to lead the company’s technology strategy. The AI integration reflects Poonawalla Fincorp’s broader goals of minimizing manual processes and promoting unbiased, efficient hiring decisions.
