Bengaluru: Infosys has announced the expansion of its IT campus in Pocharam, Hyderabad, which will create 17,000 additional jobs. This move aligns with the company’s ongoing collaboration with the Telangana government to boost the region’s IT sector.
Expansion Details
The announcement was made at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, during a meeting between Infosys CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka and Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu. Under the expansion plan, Infosys will invest ₹750 crore to construct new IT buildings in the first phase of development, expected to be completed within the next 2-3 years. The new infrastructure will accommodate 10,000 employees. Currently, Infosys employs over 35,000 individuals at the Pocharam campus, making it one of the company’s largest facilities in India.
Telangana’s Focus on IT Development
Minister D Sridhar Babu emphasized the state government’s commitment to fostering talent and building strategic partnerships to drive economic growth. The collaboration with Infosys is part of Telangana’s broader vision to strengthen its IT ecosystem. In its fiscal third-quarter earnings report for FY25, Infosys reported a total employee count of 323,379, marking a year-on-year increase of just 0.2%. The attrition rate for the last twelve months stood at 13.7%, up slightly from 12.9% in the previous quarter. Women account for 39% of the workforce, consistent with earlier quarters. This expansion highlights Infosys’ focus on scaling its operations while contributing to the regional economy, aligning with its strategic growth priorities in India.
