Raipur, 21st February – The Department of Energy, Government of Chhattisgarh, in partnership with APAC Media, successfully convened the 3rd National Sustainable Energy Innovation Conclave in Raipur. This prestigious event served as a strategic platform for high-level discussions on India’s energy transition, aligning with the vision of VIKSIT BHARAT @ 2047. The inaugural session featured Subodh Kumar Singh IAS, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Stare Power Companies and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Government of Chhattisgarh, who delivered the keynote address, alongside other eminent leaders from the energy sector.
Subodh Kumar Singh IAS underscored the essential role of the energy sector in realizing the ambitious goals for India’s growth. He referenced the Ministry of Power’s projection that India’s power generation capacity must expand to 2,100 GW to meet the anticipated demand of 708 GW by 2050. In line with this vision, Chhattisgarh is poised to generate 26,000 MW, contributing significantly to the nation’s energy needs.

He stated, “The energy sector is in the midst of a transformative journey. As we work towards Viksit Bharat @ 2047, the energy sector is not only fundamental to our economic growth but also central to India’s global sustainability agenda.”
Sanjeev Kumar Katiyar, Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Ltd., further highlighted Chhattisgarh’s unique positioning, emphasizing its vast natural resources, including the nation’s second-largest coal reserves after Jharkhand and Odisha. He reaffirmed the state’s focus on advancing the energy transition in a sustainable and forward-thinking manner.

The opening session was also attended by key dignitaries such as Rajesh Singh Rana, IAS, Chief Executive Officer, Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency, Bhim Singh Kanwar, Managing Director, Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Ltd., and Rajesh Kumar Shukla, Managing Director, Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company Ltd.
The conclave featured a series of dynamic sessions focusing on the future of energy, covering topics such as Energy Generation, Transmission & Distribution, with an emphasis on integrating both conventional and renewable energy solutions. Among the key discussions were “Navigating the Challenges and Opportunities in Power Generation,” “Digital Transformation for Sustainable Infrastructure: From Data to Decisions,” “Cybersecurity as a Pillar for Achieving Net Zero Energy Infrastructure,” and “The Path Ahead for India’s Power Transmission and Distribution Sector: Reforms and Roadblocks.”
Representatives from the Ministry of Power, Government of India, and the Central Electricity Authority were also present, contributing their insights. Additionally, senior officials from states such as Telangana, Karnataka, West Bengal, Assam, and Kerala joined the discourse, alongside PSU leaders from NTPC, REC Ltd., and SJVN, all of whom shared their vision for driving India’s energy sector towards sustainability.
Industry leaders also added value to the conclave, with cybersecurity partners Fortinet & Redington, Platinum Partner Unique Structures and Towers, Gold Partner Gemini Consulting and Services, and Silver Partner Maha Hydraulics offering strategic perspectives on tackling the key challenges in the energy domain.
