Kolkata: The West Bengal government and the British Council have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on education reforms, language learning, and cultural exchange. The agreement was formalized at the Bengal Global Business Summit 2025 in the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Focus on Higher Education and Language Learning
The MoU aims to enhance school and higher education in West Bengal by improving English language learning and internationalizing higher education. Faculty development programs and student exchange initiatives will be a key part of this collaboration.
The agreement was signed by Alison Barrett MBE, Director of the British Council India, and senior officials from the West Bengal government, including Chief Secretary Dr. Manoj Pant and Principal Secretary of Education Binod Kumar.
