Lucknow, Apr 20 (APAC Media): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Ganga Expressway on April 29 at an event in Hardoi district, near Lucknow.
This marks a major milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s infrastructure development.
The Ganga Expressway spans 594 kilometers, beginning from Bijoli village in Meerut and ending near Judapur Dandu village in Prayagraj. The project is designed to directly connect western and eastern regions of the state, significantly improving travel time and connectivity.
The expressway will pass through 12 districts—Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj—linking a total of 519 villages. The government expects the project to boost economic activity across both rural and urban areas along the corridor.
According to officials, Uttar Pradesh currently accounts for about 55 percent of India’s total expressway network. With the launch of the Ganga Expressway, this share is projected to rise to nearly 60 percent, further strengthening the state’s position in road infrastructure.
The expressway is also expected to reduce logistics costs, benefiting industries and trade by enabling faster movement of goods. Officials said it will serve as a new industrial corridor, attracting investment and supporting economic growth.
In addition, improved connectivity to key destinations like Prayagraj is likely to promote religious and cultural tourism, increasing visitor footfall and supporting local economies.
