New Delhi, 20 Apr (APAC Media): The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has constituted the Technology and Policy Expert Committee (TPEC), a standing advisory body to support the newly formed AI Governance and Economic Group (AIGEG).
The initiative is aimed at strengthening India’s approach to artificial intelligence governance through informed, expert-led decision-making.
TPEC will provide specialised technical, policy, and strategic inputs to assist AIGEG in shaping regulatory measures, policy frameworks, and India’s engagement in global AI governance forums. The committee is expected to ensure that policymaking reflects both rapid technological advancements and India’s unique social, economic, and strategic priorities.
Within India’s evolving AI governance framework, AIGEG will define strategic priorities and coordinate policy across government bodies, while TPEC will translate complex technical and policy issues into actionable recommendations. The framework is designed to be adaptive and forward-looking, ensuring coherence across India’s AI governance efforts.
