New Delhi: Oracle has launched an initiative to train 500,000 young Indians in cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and Cloud computing by 2028. Dubbed “Project Vidya,” the program is headed by Oracle University, the company’s training division.
The program will provide training and certifications in machine learning, data science, and application development. Oracle University has teamed up with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to specifically train 100,000 individuals from diverse educational backgrounds, including engineering, arts, and sciences.
NSDC CEO Ved Mani Tiwari emphasized the program’s importance, stating that it aims to build a skilled ecosystem to meet industry demands and prepare for future trends. “Through our collaboration with Oracle, we want to accelerate the training requirements of our youth, positively impacting their career opportunities and contributing to nation-building,” Tiwari said.
State-Level Impact
In Tamil Nadu, Project Vidya has already trained over 80,000 students under the state’s Naan Mudhalvan program. The initiative focuses on foundational training in Cloud technologies and extends to professional-level certifications, covering DevOps, AI, and application development.
Shailender Kumar, Senior Vice-President and Regional Managing Director of Oracle India, highlighted India’s demographic advantage. “With India being home to the world’s youngest population, the opportunity for our youth is huge,” he said.
Long-term Vision
Oracle University, which has trained over 3.1 million certified professionals worldwide, provides access to industry experts to support global cloud technology education. The new initiative underscores its long-term commitment to India’s digital transformation. By 2028, the program aims to enhance the employability of young Indians, equipping them with the skills required for technology-driven careers.
