Patankar will oversee Comviva’s fintech portfolio covering digital wallets and payments, payment orchestration, embedded finance and tokenisation. He will also lead the company’s efforts to expand its digital financial services business across global markets.
The appointment comes as payment platforms increasingly combine wallets, embedded finance, digital identity and tokenisation. Comviva said Patankar will focus on product development, market expansion and partnerships as part of its fintech strategy.
Sanjiv Patankar Joins Comviva From G+D
Patankar brings more than 28 years of experience across fintech, digital payments, banking technology, software products and digital transformation. Before joining Comviva, he spent eight years with Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) ePayments, where he managed its global ePayments product portfolio.
His work at G+D covered digital wallets, tokenisation, digital identity, authentication and payment solutions.
At Comviva, Patankar will work on expanding the company’s fintech products in developed markets while building partnerships with customers and technology ecosystems.

Comviva’s mobiquity Pay platform is deployed across more than 50 countries and has over 500 million registered customers across 70-plus deployments, according to the company. The platform processes around $500 billion in transactions annually.
The company is also expanding into digital commerce, merchant payments and payment orchestration as businesses manage multiple payment methods and markets.
The appointment places Patankar at the centre of Comviva’s plans for its digital financial services portfolio, with AI and tokenisation expected to form part of its product development roadmap.
