Kolkata, September 17 (APAC Media): Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren met Australian Consul-General in Kolkata Bernard Lynch in Ranchi on Wednesday to discuss strengthening cooperation between Jharkhand and Australia across key areas including minerals, education, skill development, investment, technology, sports, tourism, and culture.
The meeting focused on identifying areas of mutual interest where Jharkhand and Australian institutions could explore greater collaboration.
Soren highlighted the state’s natural resources, human capital and indigenous heritage as potential areas for engagement with Australian expertise, institutions and industry.
Minerals, Skills and Investment in Focus
Minerals and skill development emerged among the key areas of discussion, alongside technology and innovation. The talks also explored opportunities for investment and stronger institutional partnerships.

The discussions also covered education, culture, sports and tourism, broadening the scope of the proposed Jharkhand-Australia engagement.
The state’s tribal heritage and tourism potential were among the areas that could support greater cultural and institutional exchange. The meeting also explored possibilities for cooperation involving Australian institutions and industry.
The interaction was attended by Jharkhand Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar and Angelina Nair, Senior Research and Visit Officer at the Australian Consulate-General in Kolkata.
Soren said the two sides would look to build on the discussions and advance a stronger Jharkhand-Australia partnership in the areas identified during the meeting.
