New Delhi: The Competent Authority has approved the appointment of IAS S Divyadharshini, a 2011-batch IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, as Director in the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance, Delhi. She will serve in this capacity under the Central Staffing Scheme for a tenure of five years from the date she assumes charge or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
To facilitate her transition, the order mandates that she be relieved of her current responsibilities immediately. As per the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) guidelines, officers selected under the Central Staffing Scheme must join within three weeks of the Department of Personnel & Training’s (DoP&T) appointment order. Failure to do so may result in debarment from future Central postings.
Prior to her appointment, IAS Divyadharshini served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project and Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihoods Mission, as well as the Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women. In these roles, she played a key role in promoting growth-oriented rural women’s enterprises.
A law graduate with a Master’s degree in Public Policy, she has worked extensively at both policymaking and implementation levels within the government. Her diverse administrative experience spans district administration, land management, urban development, and law and order.
For over two years, she was associated with the Rural Development Department of Tamil Nadu, where she actively contributed to poverty alleviation programs, focusing on enhancing livelihood opportunities and community development in the state.
IAS Divyadharshini’s appointment is expected to strengthen the DEA’s policymaking efforts, given her extensive experience in governance and administration.
