New Delhi, Sep 18(APAC Media): Union Bank of India has launched a centralised banking intelligence hub to strengthen real-time monitoring, risk oversight and operational control.
AI-Based Banking Oversight
Called Union SUDARSHAN, the platform was inaugurated on September 10, 2026, at the bank’s Mumbai office in the presence of Sanjay Lohiya, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, and Union Bank Managing Director and CEO Asheesh Pandey.
The platform uses data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to monitor banking activities and identify unusual patterns across channels. It uses behavioural baselines to detect anomalies and generates alerts for exceptions, with automated escalation across management levels.
The move shifts the bank’s monitoring approach towards earlier identification of operational and risk-related issues rather than relying only on conventional reporting systems.
14 New Banking Initiatives
Union Bank also introduced 14 initiatives focused on reducing process delays, improving employee workflows and making routine banking services easier for customers. The bank said the initiatives were developed after consultations with its field teams.
The measures are part of the bank’s broader digital transformation efforts, with a focus on operational efficiency and customer service.
Union Bank Museum
The bank also inaugurated the Union Bank Museum, which documents its history and key milestones. The museum also covers the legacy of erstwhile Corporation Bank and Andhra Bank following their integration with Union Bank of India.
At the event, he also highlighted the need for stronger cybersecurity as banks expand their use of digital technologies. He called for technology-led measures to improve cyber resilience and customer service.
