New Delhi: IPS Vandita Pandey, a 2011-batch officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, has been appointed as the Director of the Department of Youth Affairs for a period of five years. Her appointment comes under the Central Staffing Scheme, and she will serve in the position as per the terms of her deputation.
The Department of Youth Affairs functions under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. It plays a pivotal role in shaping policies and implementing programs focused on youth development and empowerment. The department oversees significant initiatives such as the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), both of which are aimed at fostering leadership, skill development, and community engagement among young individuals.
With her extensive administrative experience, Vandita Pandey is expected to contribute to the department’s mission of channelising youth potential towards nation-building. The department actively promotes training, volunteerism, and capacity-building programs to equip the younger generation with the necessary skills for social and economic growth. Her leadership is anticipated to bring fresh perspectives to these initiatives, further strengthening youth engagement at the national level.
