New Delhi: IPS officer Dr. Guriqbal Singh has been appointed Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for a four-year term. He is a 2012 batch officer belonging to the AGMUT cadre. His appointment follows the MHA’s recommendation for central deputation. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Dr. Sidhu will serve under the Central Staffing Scheme from the date he assumes charge or until further orders.
Dr. Sidhu, a medical graduate from Government Medical College, Amritsar, hails from Bathinda, Punjab. He previously served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Rohini, Delhi. His contributions to law enforcement have earned him accolades, including the ASSP-2020 Police Special Duty Medal in 2017.
With his diverse background in medicine and policing, Dr. Sidhu’s new role in the MHA is expected to leverage his administrative expertise in national security and governance.
