Namchi: NHPC’s 510 MW Teesta-V Power Station has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Administration of Namchi, Sikkim, for the construction of an Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Centre at Linkutar under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Why is the ICDS Programme Important?
The ICDS programme, commonly known as Anganwadi, plays a vital role in providing essential health, nutrition, and early childhood development services to children, pregnant women, and adolescent girls. This initiative aims to uplift the local community by addressing the nutritional and healthcare needs of vulnerable populations.
The construction of the ICDS Centre at Linkutar marks a significant step in enhancing social welfare infrastructure in the region. It will provide children with a nurturing environment while ensuring access to essential services that promote their well-being and development.
NHPC’s Role in Social Welfare
NHPC remains committed to social and economic development through its CSR initiatives. By supporting the establishment of the ICDS Centre, NHPC aims to create a lasting impact on child welfare, maternal health, and community development in Namchi. This collaboration highlights NHPC’s dedication to sustainable growth and improving the quality of life in the areas where it operates.
