Amaravati: Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) has commissioned a 250 MW solar power plant in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, through its subsidiary Adani Solar Energy AP Eight Private Limited. With this addition, AGEL’s total operational renewable energy capacity has reached 12,591 MW.
New Solar Project Adds to AGEL’s Growing Renewable Portfolio
The company confirmed in a regulatory filing that the plant was commissioned on March 8, 2025, after securing the necessary clearances. The decision to go live was finalized on March 11, 2025, at 6:18 p.m.
AGEL, a key player in India’s renewable energy sector, has been expanding its solar and wind power capacity amid the country’s push for clean energy. The Kadapa project is part of AGEL’s broader strategy to scale up its renewable energy footprint in line with national sustainability targets.
Financial Performance: Profit Rises, EBITDA Margin Drops
While AGEL has been expanding its renewable portfolio, its financial performance in the last quarter showed mixed results. The company’s consolidated net profit surged by 85% year-on-year to Rs 474 crore in Q3FY25, compared to Rs 256 crore in the same period last year.Â
India’s Renewable Energy Push and Industry Outlook
India aims to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, and companies like Adani Green play a crucial role in this transition. However, the renewable energy sector continues to face challenges, including grid integration, policy uncertainty, and financing concerns.
AGEL’s latest solar project adds to the growing list of renewable installations in India, but its financial trends suggest the need for efficiency improvements alongside expansion.
