New Delhi: NITI Aayog, in collaboration with the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), has developed a new digital platform that will serve as a comprehensive repository of data on social, economic and fiscal parameters across Indian states.
NITI Ayog and NCAER’s ‘NITI NCAER States Economic Forum’, a portal, will be officially launched by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on 1 April in New Delhi.
Notable features of the portal include:
State Reports: It provides an overview of the macro and fiscal landscape of all 28 Indian states, covering aspects like demography, economic structure and fiscal indicators.
Data Repository: This offers direct access to an extensive database categorized under five verticals—Demography, Economic Structure, Fiscal, Health, and Education.
State Fiscal and Economic Dashboard: This presents graphical representations of key economic trends over time, enabling quick access to raw data and summary tables.
Research and Commentary: It provides expert analysis, policy discussions, and in-depth studies on state finances and fiscal policy at both state and national levels.
A Centralized Hub for Policymakers and Researchers
The portal aims to provide a user-friendly platform that enables policymakers, researchers and analysts to access state-wise economic data efficiently.
By consolidating sectoral data, the platform will facilitate comparative analysis between states and against national figures, aiding in informed policy decisions.
Enhancing Economic Policy Through Data-Driven Insights
With access to historical trends and real-time analytics, the portal will allow users to track progress, identify emerging economic patterns, and formulate evidence-based policies for development.
This initiative marks a significant step toward promoting transparency and research-driven policymaking in India.
