Bhopal, 28 February 2025 – Madhya Pradesh is strengthening its focus on skill development as a key driver of economic growth, as highlighted by Gautam Tetwal, Skill Development, Technical Education, and Employment Minister, Government of Madhya Pradesh, at the 5th APAC National Skill Conclave held in Bhopal. The event, organized by APAC Media, brought together key stakeholders to discuss the vital role of skill-building in addressing the evolving demands of the global job market.
During his address, Minister Tetwal emphasized the state’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment by collaborating with the private sector. He highlighted the importance of equipping the youth of Madhya Pradesh with industry-relevant skills, technological expertise, and innovation-driven competencies to help them meet the needs of the rapidly changing global economy. “We recognize that empowering our youth with the right skills will be crucial for their employment and entrepreneurial success,” said Tetwal.
Madhya Pradesh is focused on facilitating opportunities for youth by working closely with the private sector to enhance their skill sets, making them more adaptable to the demands of the job market. Girish Sharma, CEO of the Sant Shiromani Ravidas Global Skills Park (SSRGSP), further elaborated on the state’s strategy of investing in human capital through specialized training programs and setting up Centres of Excellence (COEs) in local institutions. This approach aims to create an industry-ready workforce that will contribute to the state’s growing industrial ecosystem.
The conclave also saw discussions led by prominent industry leaders and HR heads from leading companies such as HPCL, Tata Power, Grasim Industries, and JBM Group. The focus was on skilling strategies for a new-age workforce and retaining a skilled talent pool in the face of emerging technologies like GenAI. Industry experts stressed the need for academic institutions to align their curricula with industry demands to produce a workforce that is not only skilled but adaptable to future challenges.
Academics from various sector skills councils and universities shared their insights into addressing sector-specific skill gaps and preparing students for the global job market. Vice chancellors from universities across the country discussed strategies to make students industry-ready, with an emphasis on equipping them with the right skills to meet global standards.
The 5th APAC National Skill Conclave provided an important platform for dialogue between government, industry, and academia, emphasizing the need for a collaborative approach to skill development. As Madhya Pradesh works toward becoming a hub for skilled talent, the state’s commitment to nurturing a skilled workforce is set to play a pivotal role in driving economic growth and employment opportunities.
