New Delhi: State-owned NBCC (India) Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Limited (MAHAPREIT) to execute infrastructure and redevelopment projects worth Rs 25,000 crore in Maharashtra.
Focus on Urban Redevelopment and Infrastructure
The agreement, signed on 26 March, covers consultancy, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), as well as redevelopment projects. The collaboration will focus on key urban infrastructure initiatives, including:
Cluster development in Thane Municipal Corporation
Data centres and renewable energy projects
Slum rehabilitation in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR)
Affordable housing projects under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)
NBCC, which has played a major role in urban redevelopment projects in Delhi, is now expanding its footprint in Maharashtra. The projects will be implemented in phases over the next three to five years.
Strategic Collaboration for Execution
NBCC and MAHAPREIT will pool their resources and expertise to streamline project execution. While NBCC brings experience in large-scale redevelopment, MAHAPREIT will provide local operational insights. The MoU aims to enhance execution efficiency, ensuring the timely delivery of projects aligned with the government’s urban development goals.
The partnership also indicates a larger push towards sustainable infrastructure and affordable housing, in line with national policies. With growing infrastructure demands in Maharashtra, the collaboration is expected to address urban challenges such as housing shortages and sustainable energy needs.
Further details on the timeline and execution plans are yet to be disclosed.
