Kolkata: The West Bengal government is seriously contemplating a bill aimed to rein in the steep hikes in fees in private schools across the state.
Education Minister Bratya Basu informed about the decision to introduce a Bill to take necessary actions on this matter.
The Minister, though, was liberal in praise of the quality of education imparted in most private schools. However, the steep hikes seen across CBSE and ICSE board affiliated schools and other private schools is causing a major concern for most parents.
The introduction of the relevant Bill will be preceded by a detailed discussion with the CM. Subsequent to the tabling of the Bill, the Governor too needs to be brought on the common wavelength.
The Bill will seek regularisation of free strictures in schools, bringing in a modicum of uniformity and standardization.
It will also envisage the creation of a regulatory sort of body that will not only oversee the fee structuring mechanism but also monitor it on a regular basis against any discrepancies and violations in the future.
