New Delhi: As tensions between India and Pakistan escalate, airlines across India, including Air India, IndiGo and Akasa Air on 8 May issued urgent travel advisories urging passengers to reach airports at least three hours before their scheduled departure.
The advisories come in the wake of enhanced airport security directives issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).
In light of heightened security measures, check-in counters at airports will now close 75 minutes prior to departure, a move intended to streamline boarding and screening processes during a period of increased alertness.
The enhanced protocols follow reports of Pakistani strikes on Indian territories, including Jammu and Jaisalmer, and the launch of Operation Sindoor earlier, a precision strike carried out by Indian armed forces on nine identified terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation was a retaliatory response to the 22 April terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives.
Airlines have issued similar advisories, asking flyers to stay updated with airline notifications and cooperate with the increased security measures.
Passengers have also been asked to stay in regular touch with airlines and airport authorities as delays and additional checks may continue in the coming days, with the enhanced security measures likely to remain in place until further notice.
In view of an order by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security on enhanced measures at airports, passengers across India are advised to arrive at their respective airports at least three hours prior to scheduled departure to ensure smooth check-in and boarding.…
