Gandhinagar: In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Gujarat government has appointed IAS Dr Vikrant Pandey, a 2005-batch officer, as the new Secretary to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
IAS Dr Vikrant Pandey takes over from IAS Avantika Singh Aulakh, a 2003-batch officer, who has now been promoted and re-designated as the Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister.
Before this appointment, IAS Dr Pandey served as the Resident Commissioner of Gujarat in New Delhi, acting as a key link between the state and central governments. He has a distinguished administrative record, having served as Collector in several important districts, including Valsad, Bharuch, Rajkot, and Ahmedabad.
IAS Dr Pandey hails from Bakani in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district. A medical graduate with an MBBS from Udaipur, he joined the Indian Administrative Service after clearing the UPSC Civil Services Examination on his second attempt. Known for his adaptability and commitment, he also served on central deputation as Director of the Inter-State Council Secretariat under the Ministry of Home Affairs from 2019 to 2024.
His appointment as secretary to the Chief Minister reflects the Gujarat government’s continued confidence in experienced and dynamic leadership within its top administrative ranks.
