Kohima: The Nagaland government today launched the Nagaland Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM), aiming to empower 5000 youth across the state through skill development and employment opportunities.
The mission aims to skill young people for the private sector’s evolving needs. It will also prepare them for future industry demands.
The NSEDM digital portal would provide easy and affordable access to skill training and job opportunities.
The mission is to deliver focused training, strategic placement and entrepreneurial development.
Three training partners have so far signed the MoUs with NSEDM for the implementation of the mission. These include Eagle Crest, Pinnacle Skills and AISECT (All India Society for Electronics and Computer Technology).
The key objectives of NSEDM include training youth in industry-aligned, market-driven skills. The target is to ensure 60 to 80 per cent employment or entrepreneurship opportunities.
The portal also integrates other schemes like the Chief Minister’s Micro Finance Initiative (CMMFI). Through this scheme, an amount of Rs 35 crore has been earmarked to support around 1600 entrepreneurs.
NSEDM focuses on high-growth sectors such as construction and skilled trades, tourism and hospitality, healthcare and caregiving, IT and the digital economy. It also encouraged entrepreneurship, micro-enterprises and green and creative industries.
NSEDM will be implemented in a convergence mode. This will unite all stakeholder departments under a single framework. This will ensure seamless access to the mission’s services.
