New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has announced the appointment of IPS Shashvat Kumar as the Commandant (SP level) in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
Kumar is a 2016-batch IPS officer of the Tripura cadre. An electronics and instrumentation engineer by qualification, he brings a distinct technical perspective to his policing responsibilities. His career includes key postings in Tripura, such as Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) in Udaipur and Sadar, as well as Assistant Inspector General of Police (Establishment). The competent authority has approved his appointment to the new post on a deputation basis.
The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is one of India’s Central Armed Police Forces, tasked with safeguarding the nation’s borders with Nepal and Bhutan. In addition to its border security role, the SSB also plays a crucial part in maintaining internal security and providing assistance during disaster response operations.
