Bhubaneswar: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Mines, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Skill Development Institute (SDI), Bhubaneswar.
SDI functions under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG). The agreement aims to implement a skill development programme for youths from the periphery villages of NALCO’s operational areas.
The MoU was signed between the NALCO Foundation, the company’s CSR arm, and SDI in the presence of Brijendra Pratap Singh, CMD of NALCO, and Dr. Tapas Kumar Pattanayak, Director (HR), NALCO, along with other senior officials from both organisations.
Training for Local Youth
Under this initiative, 30 youths each from the periphery villages of NALCO’s Mines & Refinery Complex at DaNALCOmanjodi and Smelter & Power Complex at Angul will receive three months of residential skill training. The training will follow the guidelines of the National Skills Qualification Framework, as outlined by the National Skill Development Council, Government of India.
Focus on Employability and Livelihood
Speaking on the occasion, Singh said the programme aims to empower local youths with industry-ready skills and sustainable livelihood opportunities. He added that this collaboration reflects NALCO’s commitment to community development through youth skilling, employability, and livelihood generation in its operational regions.
