Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government will distribute e-scooters to 7,832 students who secured the top position in Class 12 examinations across government higher secondary schools in the state during the 2024-25 academic session. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will release the funds for the scheme at a programme scheduled in Bhopal on Thursday. The free e-scooter initiative, introduced in 2022-23, seeks to promote academic achievement among students in government schools. Under the eligibility criteria, toppers from all faculties qualify for the benefit. In single-gender schools, one topper is selected, while in co-educational institutions, both the top-performing boy and girl are considered.
In addition to the scooter distribution, the Chief Minister will transfer Rs 61 crore to the bank accounts of over 20.37 lakh girls enrolled in Classes 7 to 12. The amount is being provided under the Sanitation and Hygiene Scheme of Samagra Shiksha to support adolescent health and education-related needs. The government will also transfer Rs 7 crore in stipend funds to the accounts of 20,100 girls studying in Kasturba Gandhi Girls’ School Type-IV hostels, where each student receives Rs 3,400 annually for teaching-learning material and other expenses.
The event will be held at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre, Bhopal, in the presence of senior state ministers. While the schemes aim to incentivise performance and support girls’ education, they also reflect the state’s broader strategy to strengthen welfare measures in the school education system through targeted financial assistance.
