New Delhi: The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), a premier R&D body under the Ministry of Communications, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Punjab National Bank (PNB) to upgrade the bank’s IT infrastructure and fast-track its technology transformation.
The agreement aims to drive secure, scalable and indigenous digital solutions that align with the government’s Digital India, Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat goals.
Under the pact, C-DOT will provide a suite of advanced telecom and IT products, including switching and routing systems, wireless technologies, AI-based software applications, quantum communication and robust cybersecurity frameworks. These offerings are designed to strengthen PNB’s digital banking operations, support secure transactions and enhance customer access to financial services. The collaboration also covers ongoing maintenance to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and future scalability.
The MoU was formalised at C-DOT’s New Delhi headquarters in the presence of senior executives from both organisations. PNB’s team included General Managers Manish Agrawal and Surendra Vishwakarma, and Deputy General Manager Manish Sharma. CEO Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, Executive Vice Presidents Dr. Pankaj Kumar Dalela and Shikha Srivastava, Registrar Rajeev Kumar and CFO Mahinder Singh represented c-DOT.
Officials said the partnership highlights the increasing importance of technology in promoting financial inclusion, facilitating secure digital payments and expanding access to banking services nationwide in India. C-DOT, which has driven key initiatives such as BharatNet and research in next-generation networks, including 6G, brings decades of expertise in telecom innovation.
PNB expects the tie-up to accelerate its modernisation efforts and create a resilient, customer-centric digital banking ecosystem that supports sustainable economic growth.
