Jaipur, Apr 22 (APAC Media): Hindustan Zinc Limited has introduced Rajasthan’s first and largest electric bus fleet for employee transportation at its Zinc Smelter facility in Udaipur (Debari).
The move marks a clear step in the company’s push toward sustainability and lower emissions.
The initiative has been rolled out in partnership with Enviiiro Wheels Mobility Pvt. Ltd.. As part of a phased plan, 41 electric buses will be deployed across the company’s operations in Rajasthan, replacing conventional diesel-run vehicles used for staff commuting.
This shift is expected to cut emissions and improve energy efficiency in daily operations. The company estimates that the electric fleet will help reduce more than 11,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions over the contract period.
The rollout aligns with Hindustan Zinc’s broader environmental goals, which include reducing Scope 3 emissions by 25 percent and achieving net zero emissions by 2050. The company said its decarbonisation strategy extends beyond production processes to include employee mobility, making sustainability part of everyday operations.
The initiative stands as a visible step toward cleaner industrial transport and reflects growing efforts within India’s manufacturing sector to adopt greener practices.
