Kolkata: The West Bengal health department’s Swasthya Ingit telemedicine services has crossed 7 crore consultations across the state, even in rural areas.
The initiative daily delivers teleconsultations via 11,000+ health and welfare centers and 63 hubs at higher facilities. It also enables 8,000+ consultations daily with 9,000+ doctors.
The services started in August 2021 with neuro services for stroke management. Now this has expanded to 10 other disciplines, including cardiology, oncology, obstetrics, TB, gastroenterology, pediatrics, nephrology, viral hepatitis, psychiatry, and breast diseases. These services have also been rolled out to correctional homes. Pediatric and maternal care are the most demanded services.Â
Tele-neurology alone has provided services to 9552 stroke patients, with 1575 thrombolysis done.
