New Delhi: India has introduced a new e-Production Investment Business Visa, known as the e-B-4 Visa, allowing Chinese business professionals to travel to India for specific production- and investment-linked activities.
According to an advisory issued on the Indian Embassy’s website in Beijing, the visa came into effect on 1 January and can be applied for online without visiting the embassy or engaging agents.
The e-B-4 Visa is expected to be issued within 45 to 50 days and permits a stay of up to six months in India.
It is intended to facilitate activities such as installation and commissioning of equipment, quality checks, essential maintenance, production-related work, IT and ERP ramp-up, training, supply chain development, vendor empanelment, plant design and commissioning, as well as visits by senior management and executives.
The advisory said Indian companies seeking to invite Chinese nationals under this category can register on the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade’s National Single Window System (NSWS) portal.
Applications for the visa can be submitted online through the Bureau of Immigration’s e-visa portal along with the required supporting documents.
The move comes amid recent efforts by India and China to take people-centric steps aimed at stabilising and gradually resetting bilateral ties.
